Role Overview
We are seeking a Banking Reconciliations Accountant (Treasury and Balance Sheet) with strong reconciliation and data analysis experience for a short term project. The role will involve reviewing, reconciling, and validating banking and treasury data, mapping source systems and processes, and ensuring the integrity of balance sheet reconciliations - bridging the gap between operational treasury and the financial statements.
The ideal candidate will have a solid background in treasury accounting, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial data analysis within a banking environment. Strong technical skills and attention to detail are critical, with SQL skills considered highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities
● Perform detailed reconciliations of treasury and banking accounts, ensuring completeness and accuracy of data across multiple sources.
● Review and reconcile balance sheet accounts related to treasury, identifying discrepancies and resolving issues.
● Map and document data sources, workflows, and reconciliation processes to create clear and robust process documentation.
● Collaborate with Finance, Treasury, and Technology teams to validate reconciliation methods and ensure sustainable process improvements.
● Support the development of automated solutions (e.g., SQL queries, reporting scripts) to streamline reconciliations where possible.
● Prepare clear working papers, audit trails, and reporting packs for management review.
Skills & Experience
Essential:
● Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) or equivalent experience.
● Proven experience in banking treasury accounting and treasury reconciliations.
● Strong track record of preparing and reviewing balance sheet reconciliations.
● Excellent data analysis and problem-solving skills.
● Advanced Excel skills
● Ability to map processes and document workflows clearly and concisely.
● Strong attention to detail, with ability to investigate and resolve reconciliation issues independently.
● Strong project management and communication skills
Desirable:
● Experience with SQL for data extraction and reconciliation.
● Exposure to reconciliation tools or treasury management systems.
